It is recommended that you try out each of the below-mentioned workarounds and then see which one spells out success for you. So with that in mind, let’s get started.

FIX 1: Disable Notifications

This is a temporary fix and will give you respite from this issue for a few hours. What you need to do is just disable the setup notifications prompts on your tablet by force stopping the system app that is responsible for sending these alerts. Here’s how it could be done:

  1. Head over to the Settings menu on your device
  2. Then go to Apps  > Enable “Show System Apps”.

  3. Now scroll to “Android Setup” and tap on Force Stop.
  4. This should remove the setup notification on your tablet.

As already mentioned before, this fix will only remain active until a fresh instance of this app is restarted in the background.

FIX 2: Switch to Portrait Mode

For some users, their Samsung Galaxy Tab S8/Plus was stuck at the setup screen because they weren’t granting it the required permission. And the interesting thing was their tablets weren’t even listing out the entire permission set in the viewable window.

So what they did was to change the orientation from landscape to portrait [via the notification panel or the settings menu] and all the permissions were right in front of them. So try out this tweak and then check if it spells out success for you or not.

FIX 3: Try Setup from the OS

  1. If you could access the OS, then factory reset your tablet and perform a restart.
  2. However, if you are stuck in the setup screen itself, then simply restart your tablet.
  3. Performing any one of the two aforementioned steps will take you back to the setup screen.
  4. Now skip the entire setup process [do not even set up your Wi-Fi] and let the tablet boot to the OS.
  5. You will now get a notification to complete the setup, tap on it. You will be taken to the Google sign-in screen.
  6. Proceed with the on-screen instructions to complete the setup and this time you wouldn’t face any issues.

That’s it. These were the three different methods to fix the issue of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8/Plus being stuck at the setup screen. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are yet to acknowledge this issue, let alone give out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when any of these two things happen, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workaround is your best bet.
